14-12-2020

Noise Consultants Ltd and sister company Air Quality Consultants Ltd have been appointed by Mace Dragados Joint Venture (MDJV) to provide a range of environmental consultancy services associated with the construction of the new landmark HS2 terminus at London Euston.

A comprehensive range of air quality, noise and vibration consultancy services will be provided throughout the 4-year construction programme to support MDJV with the management of potential impacts arising from construction activities at the London Euston site.

The programme of works involves Air Quality Consultants Ltd and Noise Consultants Ltd working closely with the Environmental Consents Team at MDJV to ensure that the construction of the new station takes place in accordance with the Environmental Minimum Requirements, HS2 Technical Standards and industry best-practice, minimising the risk of programme delays and added costs, and aiding with stakeholder relations.

Following the appointment, Chris Whall - Managing Director of Air Quality Consultants Ltd - said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Mace Dragados Joint Venture to support them and HS2 Ltd throughout the construction of the new HS2 terminus at London Euston. We have a strong track-record of delivering similar high-profile air quality contracts for a wide range of projects throughout the UK, including major and complex infrastructure schemes.

James Trow, Managing Director of Noise Consultants Ltd, added: “Working closely together, Noise Consultants Ltd and Air Quality Consultants Ltd will share and interpret monitoring data to make scientific judgements as to the impact of construction works when underway, and use this intelligence to determine the most effective mitigation measures for emissions, noise and vibration control as construction progresses. This will help MDJV keep the construction works running to programme, ensure that the environmental requirements stipulated in the planning consent are adhered to and enable works to take place without significantly impacting local residents and businesses.

Chris continues: “Both the Air Quality Consultants Ltd and Noise Consultants Ltd teams are looking forward to bringing their combined expertise to Euston, supporting the delivery of this high speed transport hub with an innovative approach to the management and delivery of the contract. Our sister companies providing a range of environmental monitoring services in a collaborative way just makes sense and delivers time efficiencies and cost savings for the client.

Linking eight of the UK’s 10 largest cities, HS2 is the new 350+ kilometre-per-hour high-speed rail network that will run between London in the south, and Manchester and Leeds in the north. Once complete, HS2 will more than double the number of seats out of Euston station during peak hours and free up space on the west coast mainline for more local and long-distance commuter services to places like Watford, Northampton and Milton Keynes.
